Studies on Probability-Based Design for Residential Construction
This research report investigates historical trends in structural reliability of
housing construction over the past century. Comparisons are made to modern
engineering specifications for design of homes. In addition, a study of
multi-story transient loads is performed to recommend reduction factors for
live loads on multi-story residential buildings. This report is preceded by a
historical study titled Review of
Structural Materials and Methods for Home Building in the United States: 1900
to 2000.
