Quality Certification
For many years, the manufacturing world has enjoyed the efficiencies and other
benefits of standardized, documented quality management programs like ISO-9000.
And, in the last decade, there were several attempts to mirror those practices
in the home building industry, but with very limited success. Let’s face it –
with all the variables on a construction site, trying to make it run like a
factory or an assembly line is like trying to put a big square peg in a small
round hole; it just doesn’t fit.
So the NAHB Research Center created a quality management program that fits the
specific needs of the home building industry. The National Housing Quality
(NHQ) Builder and Trade Contractor Certification programs emphasize “building
it right the first time, every time,” rather than wasting time and money having
problems inspected out of jobs. Find out more about how consistent quality can
equal increased profitability for your company.
