For many years, the manufacturing world has enjoyed the efficiencies and other benefits of standardized, documented quality management programs like ISO-9000. And, in the last decade, there were several attempts to mirror those practices in the home building industry, but with very limited success. Let’s face it – with all the variables on a construction site, trying to make it run like a factory or an assembly line is like trying to put a big square peg in a small round hole; it just doesn’t fit.

So the NAHB Research Center created a quality management program that fits the specific needs of the home building industry.
