HBW Insurance Services Offers Discounted Insurance to Builders Involved in
National Housing Quality Certification Program
September 13, 2004, Upper Marlboro, Md. - This summer, Home Buyers
Warranty (HBW) Insurance Services, LLC, a managing general agent with
underwriting authority from several insurance companies to underwrite
commercial general liability insurance for residential home builders, is
offering discounted insurance for builders involved in the National Housing
Quality (NHQ) certification programs. Notably, these discounts are offered at a
time when the home building industry is particularly concerned about insurance
availability and cost.
HBW has been involved with the NHQ Program for builders and trade contractors
for the past year and a half. In a letter to the NAHB Research Center this
summer, Bruce Harrell, CEO of HBW explained, "HBW has become very familiar with
the NHQ certification requirements, and the significant positive impact
successful implementation of the requirements can have on the technical quality
of the home building industry."
The discounts offered by HBW apply to builders who successfully implement the
NHQ's quality assurance requirements and complete a certification audit.
Additionally, HBW is also offering discounts to builders who require all or a
portion of their critical classes of trade contractors to implement the NHQ's
Certified Trade Contractor program and successfully complete a certification
audit.
The NHQ Program has introduced many of the concepts of the worldwide quality
revolution to home building and remodeling. Activities include co-sponsorship
of the National Housing Quality Award, Certified Trade Contractor program, and
a pilot Certified Builder program. Response among builders, trade contractors,
and remodelers to the NHQ initiatives has been strong, and quality management
procedures are becoming more and more prevalent throughout the residential
construction industry. For more information, visit www.nahbrc.org/quality
