NAHB Research Center Analyst Joins Virginia Tech Faculty
Appointment Enhances Ongoing Research Partnership with Valuable Academic
Resource
May 16, 2005, Upper Marlboro, Md. - Today, the NAHB Research Center
announced the appointment of research analyst Randall Cantrell, Ph.D., as an
adjunct research assistant professor at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
State University's Virginia Center for Housing Research (VCHR). The VCHR serves
as an interdisciplinary study, research, and information resource on housing
for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The two-year appointment, effective
immediately, was extended to Dr. Cantrell as a result of his ongoing research
efforts for the university on the diffusion of residential construction
innovations.
In his newly-appointed position, Dr. Cantrell will serve as an adjunct professor
for VCHR's College of Architecture and Urban Studies. His primary contributions
will be to develop joint proposals and implement research on technologies and
housing industry trends, as well as to advise faculty and students on home
building industry issues. Dr. Cantrell's appointment will allow him to serve as
a direct interface between the NAHB Research Center and Virginia Tech's vast
research capabilities.
For over 40 years, the NAHB Research Center has been an expert resource for the
home building industry, providing research programs that combine analysis of
survey data with qualitative research, product design, lab testing, market
assessment, development of market and distribution strategies, field
evaluations, and more. Michael Luzier, president of the NAHB Research Center,
said, "We are very proud of Dr. Cantrell and glad to have him as part of our
team. Our strong affiliation with the home building industry through the
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and its members, in conjunction
with our growing connection to the academic research world, should result in an
even broader scope of building advances we can offer our clients and the
residential industry at large."
