Energy & Environmental Building Association Honors NAHB Research Center
with Legacy Award
Research Center’s EnergyValue Housing Award Program Recognized as Building
Performance Pioneer
October 23, 2007, Upper Marlboro, Md. - In recognition of the
organization’s 25th Anniversary, the Energy & Environmental Building
Association (EEBA) named the NAHB Research Center's EnergyValue Housing Award
(EVHA) program as one of 25 Legacy Award winners at its annual Excellence in
Building Conference on Oct. 10. The Legacy Award recognized the 25 most
significant contributors to the promotion and development of building
performance related to the science of new home construction. Recipients were
selected from an international pool of submissions for contributions made over
the past 25 years.
Legacy Award categories were based on, but not limited to, design, production,
application, testing, technology, education, awareness, health, safety,
educational resources, publications and legislative. The Research Center's EVHA
program earned the honor due to its long history of energy education outreach
and instrumental role in elevating the impact of energy-efficient construction,
as noted by EEBA officials.
Kathleen Guidera, EEBA executive director stated, "the Legacy Awards are the
first of their kind to recognize the significant work done by the pioneers in
building science. Their passion for better building performance has provided
all of us with a higher building standard that can be applied to homes across
the country."
Supported by an alliance of educational and technical organizations, the Energy
& Environmental Building Association provides the industry with educational
programs and resources for environmentally-responsible design and improved
building performance. A full list of EEBA Legacy Award winners is available
online at http://www.eeba.org/.
About EVHA: The EnergyValue Housing Award program was created
in 1996 to help educate the home building industry and the public about
successful approaches to energy-efficient construction that can be implemented
by mainstream builders. Now in its 13th year, the EVHA is the nation's
preeminent energy-efficiency award and challenges builders to elevate standards
for energy-efficient construction. The 2008 EVHA will be presented at the
National Association of Home Builders International Builders' Show in Orlando,
Fla., on Feb 13. For more information, visit www.nahbrc.org/evha.
