Fire-safe, Adaptable House

Fire-safe, Adaptable House

The Firesafe, Adaptable House demonstrates practical modifications for making homes more liveable and accessible. The NAHB Research Center focused the demonstration on showcasing ways to introduce adaptability and accessibility in new home design without making the house appear institutional.

The house was designed by Jane Willeboordse, AIA of Columbia, MD in cooperation with Nanticoke Homes of Greenwood, DE who also built the house. The project was sponsored by the U.S. Fire Administration, the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board, and a consortium of organizations working with people with disabilities.
